NHS Nightingale Hospital North West

As the UK’s leading supplier of wired and wireless nurse call technology, Wandsworth Healthcare was delighted to be chosen as the sole supplier of state-of-the-art wireless nurse call systems for the NHS Nightingale Hospital North West.

Built as part of the government initiative throughout the lockdown period in 2020, in addition to hospitals in Birmingham, Manchester and Scotland, the temporary hospital was vital to help manage patient capacity during the COVID-19 pandemic. An enquiry was received from the NHS Trust within 2 weeks after work on the hospital initially began. Requiring cutting edge wireless nurse call systems to support patient safety, comfort and satisfaction, the trust contacted Wandsworth Healthcare directly for a quote and specified an extremely fast turnaround time of five working days.

Facilitating a Temporary Intensive Care Unit in Just Five Working Days

With plans to turn the hospital into a large-scale intensive care unit, a robust and reliable emergency call system was required to ensure optimum patient care could be delivered. The client requested emergency push buttons that would be strategically located between 2 beds and a paging system linked to the Connected Care system. Additional technology included nurse call screens to accommodate 38 nurse bases throughout the ward, which Wandsworth Healthcare were able to provide without hesitation.

Expert engineers from the Wandsworth Healthcare team arrived in Manchester the following day to complete a survey with the site’s Architect, Electrical Contractor and Clinical Manager. Demonstrating the full range of cutting-edge nurse call technology available, Wandsworth Healthcare assured the hospital’s teams that an innovative healthcare solution perfectly suited to their requirements could be delivered within the outlined timeframe.

A quote was produced the same day outlining a full end-to-end service including supply, installation, testing, commission and aftercare. The order was then agreed and Wandsworth Healthcare were able to deliver the systems using a reliable same-day courier service. The team started programming the systems on a Monday and began installation by Wednesday of the same week. To ensure that systems were delivered in the short timeframe, several members of the Wandsworth Healthcare team including Director Tom Beresford were involved in the programming phase. The teams worked 24/7 to ensure equipment performance and rapid completion of the project.
